For a sweet treat, Sweet P’s has the best ice cream in town, situated directly behind Essex Coffee & Tea. Fun fact — the bride spent her summers scooping cones here.
If you’re in the mood to browse, take a stroll along Main Street in Essex Village, where you’ll find a variety of charming boutiques and local shops.
For the history buff - the Connecticut River Museum is a must. And for the classic train lovers, a ride aboard the Essex Steam Train is a fun journey through the area.
Chester, CT
Between Essex + East Haddam is Chester, CT — known for its art galleries + vibrant culinary scene.
Little House Brewing is a favorited local micro brewery located right on Main Street - and adjacent to several of Chester’s best restaurants.
For a quick bite, The Wheatmarket on Water Street is a local go-to.
Old Saybrook, CT
The best hot yoga in the area can be found at Soul Sweat next to the OS train station. The bride used to teach yoga here once upon a time - now just a frequent visitor when in town.
Explore the quaint community of Fenwick, offering lovely views of Long Island Sound, scenic walking paths, or to play a round of golf. Be sure to catch a glimpse of the historic Katharine Hepburn mansion from the water.
